XandyTrekking is an Adventure Tourism Agency founded by Alexandre Freire, a historian graduated from the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB), specializing in the History of Chapada Diamantina. He is also trained as an Adventure Tourism Guide with a focus on the Chapada Diamantina National Park.
XandyTrekking’s goal is to provide adventure experiences linked to local and regional history, in order to value the memory of the Pati Valley community, which we count on the full support of to carry out the Pati Valley Trekking experience, our main itinerary.
We are in the Pati Valley every week. All of the agency’s guides are specialized and trained to work in the Pati Valley. The good relationship with the natives of the Valley allows for a complete experience in the most isolated community of the Chapada Diamantina National Park.

The meeting point and departure point for the Trekking are in the cities of Palmeiras or Lençóis (Preferably Palmeiras). To get there by plane, you can choose between two routes: Salvador or Lençóis. The route via Salvador requires taking a bus with Viação Rápido Federal (there are four schedules per day) to Palmeiras or Lençóis, and you can even arrive on the morning of your departure. Flights from Lençóis are less frequent, but it is only a 20-minute drive from Lençóis airport to the city, or 40 minutes to Palmeiras. To get there by bus, it depends on the state you are in. We also provide advice on your arrival in Chapada Diamantina (Palmeiras or Lençóis), just get in touch via email or WhatsApp.
From Lençóis or Palmeiras we left in a private car to Guiné, where the trails begins.
All our packages, regardless of the number of days, include Transportation, Accommodation, Full Meals (3 meals), Qualified Local Guides and Adventure Insurance.
We have 3, 4 and 5 day itineraries, designed to meet the different traveler profiles in Chapada Diamantina. The 3 and 4 day itineraries are done in the Circuit format, that is, we enter and leave through the same place (Guinea). The 5 day itinerary is done in the Travessia format, that is, we enter through Guinea and finish the trail in the city of Andaraí. With each additional day that we spend in the Valley, we get to know more attractions.
It is not necessary to bring camping equipment, such as a tent, sleeping bag, thermal insulation, among others. Accommodation in Vale do Pati includes bed linen and towels, so we recommend that you bring:
• Backpack of at least 30L suitable for hiking;
• Clothing for hiking (we recommend a hat and T-shirt with sun protection), bathing (we recommend a quick-drying towel) and overnight stay;
• Boots or sneakers suitable for mountain activities;
• Personal hygiene items (sunscreen, insect repellent, soap, among others);
• Headlamp;
• Personal medication.
We accept Pix, Cash, Bank Slip, Bank Transfer and Credit Card. To reserve, we ask for 30% of the amount in cash and the other 70% can be paid up to 12 hours before the start of the trail. The remaining 70% can be paid in installments, subject to a fee charged by the operator PagSeguro (check via email or WhatsApp). For cash payments we offer a discount.
The Pati Valley Trekking involves a demanding walk of an average of 12 km per day. However, the trail does not have any technical sections that involve climbing, swimming, use of specific equipment, etc. Therefore, you can do the trail without any previous experience, as long as you are in adequate physical condition. It is not necessary to be an athlete, however, it is recommended that you are used to outdoor activities (walking, running, swimming, cycling and similar).
The Pati Valley trail is considered one of the most beautiful routes in Brazil because it is one of the most complete in terms of scenic beauty. During the days of the trail we visit viewpoints, caves, waterfalls, wells, as well as varied biomes and cultural immersion during the stay with the natives of the Valley.
We would like to point out that serious accidents in the Valley are rare, as it is a very popular and well-structured trail. In the case of less serious injuries, it is possible to use mules to leave the Valley. In the case of serious accidents, the Chapada Diamantina National Park brigade is mobilized to remove the injured person on a stretcher and transport them to the Chapada Regional Hospital (Seabra). We do not include private medical evacuation in our services, as the responsibility for removing injured people lies with the Park administration. It is worth mentioning that all guides have radios for long-range communication, as well as satellite internet in the homes of residents for emergency communication.
Although Xandy is the creator of XandyTrekking, our agency currently has a demand for dates that go beyond his availability as a guide for all itineraries.
